Google recently indicated via its Android Beta Program web site that a beta version of Android O will soon be available. Google released a preview version of Android O for developers earlier this year, though it is not stable enough for everyday use.

The new beta build is aimed for public beta testing and daily use Google is expected to make this first beta build of Android O available as an over-the-air download later this month, coinciding with its I/O developer conference scheduled for May 17-19. So far the main new consumer-facing featureof Android O is a picture-in-picture viewer for Android phones. This is something you can already do on Android tablets.

Most of Android O updates are behind the  screens and and features to make developers work easier.

Google also indicated that the beta program for Android 7 Nougat is now concluded. All devices that are enrolled in the Android 7 Nougat beta program have been updated to the latest version of Android and will receive no more beta builds.
