RadioShack has jumped into the fray with a new trade-in offer and discounts on soon-to-be-discontinued iPhone 5 models. The company’s “Trade and Save” website offers a preliminary check on the value of your current smartphone, and will offer up to $250 (for an iPhone 5), $150 (iPhone 4S) or $100 (iPhone 4) towards a new smartphone (any brand) or discounted older-model iPhone. The retailer is offering the current 16GB iPhone 5 for $150 on contract to AT&T or Sprint.
While RadioShack also carries the Verizon version of the iPhone 5, it does not qualify for a discount under the new promotion. Customers who want to trade in their current iPhone can either bring it into the nearest store, or arrange online to send it in via a free pre-paid shipping label. Mail-in traders will receive a gift card equal to the trade-in value, which can be used either online or in-store.
