Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One looks to be hitting its projections for the four-day holiday weekend with estimates now pegging it as scoring $53 million by weekend’s end.
The virtual reality fantasy holds an A- CinemaScore and 76% on Rotten Tomatoes .
Tyler Perry’s Acrimony scored second place for the weekend with $17 million, and Black Panther is still doing robust business in third place with $11 million. The Marvel title crossed the $650 million domestic mark and is now the fifth-highest grossing release in the U.S. of all time with it likely to pass both Jurassic World and Titanic in the next week or so.
