Capcom has confirmed a new console title from their flagship Resident Evil series will debut this November.
Resident Evil 6 will launch Nov. 20 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with a PC version to debut soon after, the publisher announced.
The latest installment brings two fan-favorite characters together for the first time: Leon Kennedy from Resident Evil 4 and Chris Redfield from 2009’s Resident Evil 5. The duo will work together to fight off bioterrorist attacks and subsequent zombie outbreaks in the U.S. and China.
“From the outset the team’s intention was to create an experience that delivers a gripping storyline, tense single-player and co-op action all set against a constant theme of horror,” says executive producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi in a statement. “We are calling this fusion dramatic horror and are confident it will resonate with both existing fans of the series as well as newcomers.”
Capcom has also released a hefty 3-minute debut trailer featuring a taste of the story and combat. It appears cover-based firefights will play a big role, as the video shows lead character Chris Redfield sliding behind objects to seek cover.
And it’s hard to tell, but is it possible Resident Evil 6 allows players to *gasp* run and shoot at the same time? The inability to perform this task in previous Resident Evil titles has been a notable negative for the series. But to Capcom’s credit, that ability will be available in the upcoming Nintendo 3DS game Resident Evil: Revelations.
