Starring James Franco, Tom Felton, Freida Pinto, Andy Serkis, Brian Cox and John Lithgow, the story is a prequel to the 1968 classic Planet of the Apes, that tells the story of a chimpanzee named Caesar (Serkis) that, as the result of genetic engineering, possesses intelligence far superior to any of his kind. Soon, the scientists lose control of Caesar and the ultimate battle for supremacy begins in the war of apes vs. humans.
Created by Weta Digital, the New Zealand-based effects company that previously turned Serkis into Gollum in the The Lord of the Rings movies. Rupert Wyat directs Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
