Robert Kirkman is teaming up with artist Jason Howard for all-ages comic books are typically lower than that of their PG-13 counterparts, Super Dinosaur #1 has out-sold many other titles on the shelf this week before even hitting the shelves. Now, the first new series published under Robert Kirkman’s Image Comics Skybound imprintis now being rushed back to press for a second printing.
Robert Kirkman and Jason Howard previously worked together on the recently-concluded horror/superhero series, The Astounding Wold-Man series. Super Dinosau is the creative duo’s first crack at creating a comic book their own kids can enjoy. In fact, the original concept behind what later became the modern, genetically-modified dinosaur we see today was first introduced as a character to entertain Howard’s son.
“It’s awesome to look back on that first sketch I did with my son and see how it has evolved into a full blow comic incorporating a bunch of the things I loved as a kid myself,” Howard reminisced. ”But beyond the missiles and dinosaurs, Robert is really infusing the characters with heart and making the story something that all audiences can enjoy, I can’t wait for people to see what is coming up!”
The two creators are pleased to have provided kids like their own with a new reason to start reading comics. In fact, a free Super Dinosaur Origin Special , which picks up right where Super Dinosau #1 leaves off, will be widely available at participating comic shops on Free Comic Book Day (5/11).

Super Dinosaur #1 will not only be available in comic shops today in print, but has also been simultaneously released on Comixology.com as a digital comic for the iPad or iPhone through the Image Comics app.
The 32-page full-color all ages science fiction comic book, is available in comic shops today for $2.99. The second printing is due out in May.
