Canadian Cell provider Rogers this week announced it will be the exclusive provider of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play and Xperia Arc smartphones. The former was rumored to arrive as an exclusive at the carrier early last week. Either handset will ship with Android 2.3.
The Play will have slide-out gaming controls and a four-inch touchscreen, a five-megapixel webcam and social networking apps. It will be powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU and Adreno GPU for 60fps graphics. It will be PlayStation Certified, meaning access to PlayStation game content.
The Xperia arc measures just 8.7mm and uses a 4.2-inch touchscreen. It has an eight-megapixel camera with Sony Ericsson’s Exmor R sensor and an f/2.4 lens. An HDMI output lets users share their creations on a large, external display.
The arrival date has only been stated as spring and pricing has not been disclosed.
