Roku owners are able to mirror their Windows desktops with the streaming set-top box, the company has revealed. The screen mirroring option, offered in beta for the Roku 3 and the Roku Streaming Stick, has been available in a range of devices for some time, most notably in the Chromecast, with the addition bringing Roku in line with its Google-created competitor.

In order to work with the Roku update, the host device needs have support for screen mirroring. According to the support pages, the device must be running either Windows 8 or later, Windows Phone 8 or later, or Android 4.4.2 or later, with an extra note stating that custom Android ROMs are not supported. There does not appear to be support for iOS nor OS X in the support notes at all.

The update is being slowly rolled out to Roku devices from today, with all units expected to have the function within the next few weeks.
