Ron Howard’s ‘Dark Tower’ Staying at Universal

There have been rumors going around that Ron Howard’s adaptation of Stephen King‘s Dark Tower series might be in trouble at Universal, but could end up going to another studio.

Well, the THR reports Universal is moving forward with the project that includes three films and two seasons of television to tell the sprawling story of Roland Deschain, the last living member of a knightly order of gunslingers, and humanity’s last hope to save a civilization that will crumble unless he finds the Dark Tower. However, it sounds like the project will be delayed a bit.

Apparently the project hit some budgetary issues and what would’ve been a fall production start has been pushed back to allow for a rewrite from Akiva Goldsman to make the project cheaper to produce. At this time, no start date has been projected, and it’s still unclear whether the budget changes will affect their ability to keep Jaiver Bardem as the lead in the film and TV collaboration.
