Once said to be moving forward earlier this year with Jim Carrey in the lead, the comedy Pierre Pierre is now eying Russell Brand as a leading man instead.
The film focuses on a self-indulgent Frenchman who plans on stealing the Mona Lisa to get enough money to move out of his parent’s house.
Originally, the script, written by Edwin Cannistraci and Frederick Seton, was purchased by 20th Century Fox for a million as a vehicle for director Jason Reitman. Borat and Bruno director Larry Charles is now attached to direct instead.
Brand most recently appeared in Rock of Ages and can next be seen in both Diablo Cody’s still-untitled directorial debut and as a voice in Despicable Me 2.
