Samsung is preparing to launch 55-inch and 65-inch models of its UHD TV sets next month. Starting off in Korea, the new models will go on sale in June, with a view to releasing it in other markets shortly afterwards, with the two differently-sized 4K-capable TVs following the 85-inch S9 the company released in the country at the beginning of this year.
The S9 ships with an imposing large frame, allowing it to stand freely from the floor, but it is not clear if the smaller television sets will have a similar design or have a more conventional form. Just as its larger predecessors, the 55-inch and 65-inch versions will have the same Smart TV functionality and share a number of other features, such as the micro-dimming lighting.
While a price is not currently available, it is likely to cost far less than the $38,000 of the S9. When Sony announced two Ultra HD televisions in the US last month, it priced its 55-inch and 65-inch models at $5,000 and $7,000 respectively, and Samsung’s offering may end up being in the same ballpark.
