Samsung today introduced new ISOCELL Dual image sensor camera systems that will give mid-level and low-cost phones access to advanced bokeh and low-light features.
Samsung’s offering is a complete solution that includes the ISOCELL Dual sensors and properly optimized algorithms to match them in a single package. Samsung believes this will make it quicker and less expensive for ISOCELL phone makers to drop the package into devices, bringing a new array of features to their devices.
To start, the new ISOCELL Dual combines Samsung’s bokeh/portrait software with a 13-megapixel / 5-megapixel pair of sensors, or its low-light shooting software with a pair of 8-megapixel sensors.
Phone makers can select one or the other.
Samsung didn’t say how soon the new ISOCELL Dual software/sensor packages will be available to phone makers.
