Walmart will be adding the Samsung Galaxy Precedent to its cellphone line up. Straight Talk, the retailer’s prepaid wireless service, has begun pre-marketing the smartphone as a web exclusive on a special website. The company offers no details on the phone itself, but encourages viewers to sign up to receive emails with more information in the future.
The Precedent appears to be the same as the Galaxy Prevail, currently carried by Boost Mobile. It is an entry-level Android handset, with basic features. The phone integrates an 800MHz processor, 3.2-inch 480×320 LCD touchscreen, a basic two-megapixel camera, and Android 2.2.
Smart Talk is a wireless service offered by TracFone in a deal with retailer Walmart.
The phone requires a pre-paid $45 unlimited talk, text, and web plan (sold separately). No pricing for the Precedent has been released, but Boost sells the sibling prevail for $180.
