Samsung Hercules Is a T-Mobile Branded Galaxy S II Phone

Questions about Samsung’s plans to bring the Galaxy S II to T-Mobile ended Sunday with a leak. The long-rumored Hercules has been seen with T-Mobile’s label on the back and a clear “Galaxy S II” marking to match, removing any doubt as to the core features. What TmoNews saw at the front also lines up with the much more rounded look of the phone seen at Telus.

The link supports the notions that both go beyond Samsung’s official spec with a slightly larger 4.5-inch screen and twice as fast 42Mbps HSPA+ for their 3G (to be badged as 4G by the carriers). The eight-megapixel back camera and two-megapixel camera should remain. A dual-core 1.2GHz Samsung-made Exynos processor should stay and give it the performance lead for now.

Software should still center on Android 2.3 with Samsung’s TouchWiz layer on top, although the source for the new photos claimed that Netflix is preloaded from the start and already works.

Samsung has already gone on record as saying the Galaxy S II should reach the US in August, leaving just a few weeks before at least an announcement. All other major US carriers are known to be signing on. So far, Sprint is the only other carrier to have its model seen live in the form of the Epic Touch 4G.
