Marvel has released a new map of Battleworld, the patchwork planet comprised of dozens of alternate Marvel universes that will play host to this summer’s massive “Secret Wars” event. The image, called the Secret Wars Battleboard, will be available as a premium, foldout map printed on laminated card stock at participating comic shops and retailers along with the release of “Secret Wars” #1.
The Battleboard will be of interest to fans eagerly awaiting the complete reveal of Marvel’s entire “Secret Wars” line of comics. The complete list of titles has been shrouded in mystery since the event was first announced and Marvel has been slowly revealing new series on a near daily basis ever since. Marvel stated in the release that the Battleboard contains the covers for every “Secret Wars” series released in May and June. All 35 previously announced series, including recent announcements “Guardians of Knowhere” and “E Is For Extinction” — stand revealed on the Battleboard while 9 slots remain “classified.”
When compared with the initial set of 15 teasers released last fall, it’s possible that as many as eight of these slots have already been revealed. So far Marvel has not announced series tied to the teasers for “Civil War,” “Years of Future Past,” “Armor Wars,” “House of M,” “Age of Apocalypse,” “Renew Your Vows,” “A vs. X” and “X-Men ’92.” The other seven teasers — including series like “Old Man Logan,” “Planet Hulk” and “Infinity Gauntlet” — have all received official series announcements.
It’s also possible that these eight series are not scheduled to be released in May or June, thus leaving them for possible inclusion on a future Battleboard.
