During a panel at PAX East, Capcom confirmed plans to port its two Dungeons & Dragons games for release on Wii U eShop, Steam, PSN, and XBLA as “Chronicles of Mystara.” The collection comprises 1993’s Tower of Doom and 1996’s Shadow Over Mystara, both beloved four-player arcade fantasy brawlers set in D&D’s Mystara world.
The only previous home release for these games was on the Saturn in 1999, which limited the games to two players.
The new version integrates a challenge system, and includes drop-in, drop-out online multiplayer using GGPO. A new “house rules” system will let you change the mechanics, turning it into a time attack or losing money instead of health when damaged, for example.
The Wii U version will include WiiPad enhancements, including touchscreen item management. All versions will have online leaderboards. Chronicles of Mystara will be released in June for $14.99.
