20th Century Fox has released a new Apes trilogy featurette as a lead up to the release of War for the Planet of the Apes.
Weta Digital has been the folks behind turning human actors to apes in last couple of Ape movies. The featurette below shows Weta Digital’s techniques and toolsets over the course of the movies.
War for the Planet of the Apes is the third chapter in the rebooted series. In the moivie Caesar (Andy Serkis) and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel (Woody Harrelson). After the apes suffer great losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge the death of his fellow apes. This leads to Caesar and the Colone lface to face against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate and the future of the planet.
The film, directed by the returning Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In), also stars Steve Zahn (Dallas Buyers Club, Captain Fantastic), Terry Notary (Kong: Skull Island, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) and Karin Konoval (Rise of the Planet of the Apes, 2012).
War for the Planet of the Apes opens nationwide on July 14.
