Nintendo will launch sequels to the successful DS titles Pokemon Black Version and Pokemon White Version this fall.
The titles — simply called Pokemon Black Version 2 and White Version 2 — will be playable on all handheld models including the 3DS. However, it’s not clear whether players will have the option to enjoy Pokemon in 3-D.
Nintendo did not provide additional details on the sequels.
Although Nintendo franchises Super Mario and The Legend of Zelda grab most of the attention, the Pokemon has been equally lucrative for the company. According to internal figures, the franchise has sold more than 228 million copies to date as of last October.
The first Black and White titles set a first-day DS sales record, combining to sell over 1 million copies at launch.
