Following new that Hell on Wheels star Anson Mount would be taking on the role of King Black Bolt in Marvel’s Inhumans, Marvel Entertainment has announced that former Graceland and Chicago Fire star Serinda Swan has joined the cast as his queen, Medusa! Medusa is capable of controlling her hair with the same precision that others use their hands and fingers.

“Serinda empowers Medusa’s regal glory and still maintains a relatability that synced perfectly with the character,” Marvel TV head and executive producer Jeph Loeb says. “She is nothing short of wonderful.”

Showrunner Scott Buck adds: “Serinda Swan brings a regal elegance, as well as a sense of great inner strength and fierce determination, to the role of Medusa. I couldn’t be happier to have her as our Queen of Attilan.”

In the past, she played the magical hero Zatanna Zatara in Smallville. She joins Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones), who will play Maximus, a clever and charming Inhuman that is fiercely devoted to the people of Attilan, especially his brother, Black Bolt – though he harbors an intense desire to wear the crown himself.

Set to debut this September, a version of the first two episodes of the new ABC series will premiere exclusively in IMAX theatres for a two-week window, prior to the 8-episode network run.

Marvel’s Inhumans is executive produced by Scott Buck (Dexter, Marvel’s Iron Fist) along with Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s Daredevil, Marvel’s Jessica Jones, Marvel’s Luke Cage) and Jim Chory (Marvel’s Daredevil, Marvel’s Jessica Jones, Marvel’s Luke Cage), with Buck serving as showrunner. Roel Reine (Admiral, Black Sails) will direct the first two episodes. The series is co-produced by Marvel Television and ABC Studios.
