Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, WayForward Technologies’ new game in the Shantae platforming series, will see a release on the PlayStation Vita and Vita TV if the campaign reaches its initial funding goal of $400,000.
According to an update on the campaign’s Kickstarter, backers were asking for a Half-Genie Hero PS Vita release.
“As it happens, the landscape of gaming has shifted somewhat today with Sony’s Vita TV announcement,” the update states, referring to the PS Vita TV device unveiled during Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia’s Press Conference 2013. “In response, we’ve decided to port wfEngine to Vita as part of our ‘work-for-hire’ business,”
The campaign launched earlier this month, with the studio asking for $400,000 to make Half-Genie Hero. The title is confirmed for release on Windows PC via Steam, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Wii U. At the time of writing, the campaign has raised $218,407 from 5,607 backers with 24 days to go.
