Inti Creates revealed a collaboration between Nintendo 3DS games Azure Striker Gunvolt and Shovel Knight during the “Nintendo Presents: Worldwide INDIE Meeting” panel at Japan’s BitSummit indie game festival held in Kyoto July 9 and 10.
The collaboration uses the Amiibo capabilities available on Inti Creates’ Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 Nintendo 3DS game to pit players against the Shovel Knight character. Players can tap the Shovel Knight Amiibo, start the battle, and collect rare equipment recipes if they win. (In order to access the special fight players need either a New Nintendo 3DS system or a regular Nintendo 3DS system with a Nintendo 3DS NFC Reader/Writer accessory.)
Shovel Knight developer Yacht Club Games is publishing the physical release of Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 as a set with the first Azure Striker Gunvolt in North America. This Azure Striker Gunvolt “Striker Pack” is slated for September 30. In Japan, Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 will ship on August 25.
