The infamous internet meme Slender Man becomes a narrative feature with the first trailer arriving today. The horror flick is directed by Sylvain White (Stomp The Yard).
Specifics of the plot are under wraps, beyond what’s in the trailer which sees a girl having disappeared and a bunch of creepy imagery. Only briefly seen is the titular figure created in a 2009 Photoshop contest which showed an abnormally tall, skinnier than humanly possible pale man without a face and dressed in a suit and tie.
Several films and games based on the character have been made in the past, while in 2014 two 12-year-old American girls in Wisconsin lured a friend into the woods and stabbed her 19 times in an effort to ‘appease’ the fictional entity. That true crime story became the subject of a documentary last year on HBO.
Jaz Sinclair, Joey King, Julia Goldani Telles, Annalise Basso, Alex Fitzalan, and Kevin Chapman co-star in the new film which opens May 18th.
