Sonos has released an free Android compatible Controller app for Android (2.2 or higher) tablets, including the Android-powered Kindle Fire. Additionally, the company has now also added support for the Slacker streaming music service. The app is designed to work with Sonos-branded wireless digital music systems.
The new Controller app for Android allows users to wirelessly control Sonos systems throughout a household. It also includes new enhancements including alarms, music library management and Twitter support.
The company also announced a new update for its Sonos music systems. The Sonos System Software has been upgraded to version 3.6. Users can now stream Slacker Radio giving them the added functionality of being able to listen to over 150 stations for free, or pay for additional functionality with the Slacker Premium service.
The 3.6 software update also brings improved Spotify integration on Sonos. Spotify users can now use their Sonos system to access their Spotify inbox and play music from Spotify’s new releases and top tracks. As an added bonus, the 3.6 update also brings support for the AAC+ codec.
