The Season 6 premiere of “Sons of Anarchy” was the show’s biggest episode ever in the overnight ratings.
The FX series, which featured a school shooting as a major plot point in the premiere, drew 5.9 million viewers Tuesday night (Sept. 10), up about a half-million viewers from last year’s debut. It was the biggest audience ever for the show in same-day ratings, and FX projects it will become the channel’s most-watched telecast of all time with Live +7 ratings.
The “Sons” premiere was also the No. 1 show on all of TV Tuesday among adults 18-49 (3.1 rating, 3.9 million viewers in the demographic), 18-34 (2.9 rating) and adults 25-54 (3.3 rating). The demo numbers were all up from the Season 5 premiere.
The biggest gains came among female viewers. The number of women 18-34 and 18-49 watching the show was up by 43 percent and 35 percent vs. last year’s premiere.
