While Universal and Focus Features moved Fifty Shades of Grey from August 1, 2014 to February 13, 2015 this morning, we’ll still have some sex on August 1st!
Shortly after the announcement, Sony Pictures said they will now open Sex Tape on August 1, 2014. Starring Jason Segel and Cameron Diaz, the Jake Kasdan comedy was previously scheduled for July 18, 2014. On its new date it will face Universal’s Get On Up and Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy.
Switching to a totally different genre, Sony also announced it will now release the horror movie Beware the Night on July 2, 2014. Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Scott Derrickson, the film was previously scheduled for January 16, 2015. Eric Bana, Edgar Ramirez, Olivia Munn and Joel McHale star. The Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone comedy Tammy is also set for a July 2, 2014 release.
