Sony will offer a new photo editing program for the PS3 later this week, the company revealed on Monday. The software, which will let users create stop-motion videos, add sound and video effects such as subtitles, color schemes, and more, will also sync with Sony’s PlayMemories Online cloud service. Users will also have the ability to upload photos or videos straight to the console from their cameras and camcorders, and then upload files to Facebook.

The media is accessible from Sony’s handheld PS Vita and PSP. It’s more than likely that Sony’s smartphones and tablets will eventually sync, though whether this will just be PlayMemories or go beyond isn’t clear.

The software won’t be free, and will go on sale in the US on Tuesday, followed by Europe on Wednesday and Japan on Thursday. Only pricing for Japan has been revealed, which will put it at 1,500 yen (about $18). A 30-day free trial will be available, and a full version of the software will be bundled with new Sony cameras.

The PlayMemories Online service will offer 5GB of online storage
