Developers of fighting series Soulcalibur have traveled all the way to the 16th century for a special guest brawler.
Publisher Namco Bandai announced the fighting game Soulcalibur V will feature Ezio Auditore, the lead character from Ubisoft’s action series Assassin’s Creed.
The guest fighter will appear on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game when it launches January 31, 2012.
Ezio will have access to his wide selection of weapons, including the longsword, crossbow, hidden gun and hidden blade.
The Soulcalibur franchise has a long history of adding guest characters to their rosters. The 2003 release of SoulCalibur II featured The Legend of Zelda hero Link, Tekken brawler Heihachi and comic book character Spawn as guests for the Nintendo GameCube, PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions respectively.
In 2008, Soulcalibur IV recruited Star Wars characters Yoda and Darth Vader.
