Spotify Releases iPad App – Full-Screen, AirPlay Modes

Music service Spotify has released an updated iOS client, v0.5.0, introducing a native iPad interface for the first time. This mainly allows iPad users to stay in the same view while searching through tracks, users, and playlists. Users also get access to higher-resolution album art though, and a full-screen mode, intended for people connecting their iPad to a home stereo system. An AirPlay menu allows for Wi-Fi streaming to compatible speakers.

The app as a whole now supports gapless playback, as well as crossfading. Two major bugs have also been fixed: one involved crashes when updating playlists or starring tracks, while another allowed offline synced playlists to be removed.

Spotify v0.5.0 is a free download for devices running iOS 5.0 or later. Access to more than offline playlists in the iOS app requires a Spotify Premium account, however, which costs $10 a month.
