Sprint has confirmed plans to institute a 5GB hotspot plan cap leaked just Wednesday. Starting October 2, those who pay for the $30 hotspot add-on will have the finite amount of data to use each month when sharing a phone’s 3G or 4G over Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or USB. It stressed that on-device data for phones and tablets would stay unlimited.
Although unstated, overage fees won’t be as low as they are on rival networks. Sprint is expected to charge five cents for every megabyte over the 5GB cap.
