Sprint appears to have resolved a network problem that had prevented many of the carrier’s subscribers from sending text messages. The official Sprint Care Twitter feed was briefly filled with responses to inquiries from affected customers, though it remains unclear if the outages were widespread or limited to select regions.
“As of 4:15pm ET, SMS for our wireless customers has been restored,” the company said in a Twitter post. “We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
Customers less than a week ago reported similar problems with Sprint’s text-messaging services, which had blocked incoming texts from other carriers.
Aside from the SMS issues, several customers have reported problems with visual voicemail notifications. The company acknowledged the problem, but has yet to provide an estimated time-frame for a resolution to restore proper service.
