Square Enix pulled off a controversial move and successfully rebooted their Tomb Raider franchise with an all new prequel game staring Lara Croft. Today, the company’s CEO Phil Rogers announced in a blog post that the company is working on a follow-up game for next gen consoles.
“I am also excited to reveal that we are well into development on a next-generation Tomb Raider sequel – something you may have heard about recently!”
The sequel to Tomb Raider was alluded to at San Diego Comic-Con when it was announced writer Gail Simone will be writing an ongoing comic book series that will bridge the gap between the 2013 game and its sequel.
Square Enix was reportedly disappointed in the sales figures for the first game, which to date has sold over 4 mllion copies, but are moving ahead with a sequel anyway.
