Twitter today made good on a promise it made four months ago: moving forward, photos, videos, quoted tweets, and polls will not count towards the 140-character limit in tweets.
This means people can now respond to others on Twitter as well as include photos or GIFs and still have 140 characters to write what they want. Twitter believes the changes will make the service easier to use for newcomers and less frustrating for seasoned veterans.
Twitter first announced the change in May. Twitter didn’t say whether or not users will need to upgrade their apps to take advantage of the relaxed character count restrictions.
