Starz will honor former “Spartacus” star Andy Whitfield in early October with a marathon of “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” episodes.
Whitfield, who died Sunday (Sept. 11) of non-Hodgkins lymphoma, became a breakout star through the series, and the cable channel wants to pay tribute to his spirit as “an honorable fighter both on and off camera.”
The five-episode “Spartacus” marathon will begin at 9 p.m. ET Sunday, Oct. 2. It will include the series premiere and finale and three other key episodes.
Starz also plans to re-air the entire season of “Blood and Sand” starting Dec. 16, in advance of the premiere of “Spartacus: Vengeance” — in which Liam McIntyre takes over the title role — early next year.
