“Boardwalk Empire” star Steve Buscemi is partnering with AOL on “Park Bench,” an original docu-series about New Yorkers. The show is billed as a sort of character study of both the city and its residents. Buscemi will travel around New York with a crew that will capture him having conversations about culture and current events with the city’s regular and celebrity residents.
It will be interesting to see how AOL and Buscemi distinguish the premise of the show, which is strikingly similar to Jerry Seinfeld’s popular web series “Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee.”
Olive Productions and RadicalMedia are co-producing, while FremantleMedia will be handling distribution rights.
Production on “Park Bench” is set to begin this month. A release date for the series has not yet been set.
