Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS will allow you to buy its collectible, in-game trophies with its in-game currency and the handheld’s Play Coins.
“Super Smash Bros. Brawl had tons of trophies, but rumor has it that the 3DS version alone may have more than Brawl,” Super Smash Bros. Director Masahiro Sakurai said in a post on Miiverse. Seeing as how Brawl had 544 trophies, many of which you could only earn by completing specific, difficult challenges, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS is offering another way to collect them.
Sakurai said if you’re having a hard time getting a certain trophy you could just buy it, and judging by the picture above, you could pay with either in-game gold or the 3DS’ Play Coins, which you earn by walking around with your 3DS in sleep mode, using it as a kind of pedometer. Sakurai said that the trophies will sometimes go on sale as well.
Super Smash Bros. for 3DS launches October 3, while the Wii U version is scheduled to arrive later in the year.
