Swiftkey X ($3.99) for Android smartphones and tablets has been updated to version 2.2. With the update comes a host of new features, headlined by the addition of support for 35 languages. Additionally, the software has been given full support for Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).
Languages supported in the new update include Spanish, French, Italian, German, Afrikaans and Ukranian, among others. Users can now also choose to type in more than one language as well, based on those pre-chosen for download. But the developers haven’t stopped there, adding a new multi-touch framework for faster typing, improving the app’s Fluency engine for boosting prediction and correction performance as well as UX enhancements.
The app can be set as the default keyboard during the setup process and replaces the stock Android keyboard in the process. It also claims to be able to learn the language style of the user, boosting its accuracy over time. Another ‘feature,’ if enabled by the user, is the ability for the app to access a user’s Twitter and Facebook accounts to learn more about the way a user communicates.
