Syfy has officially announced the premiere dates for its spring schedule, in addition to the season finale dates for its current slate of programming.
The week after the season finale of Stranded is the season premiere of Deep South Paranormal; on Wednesday, April 10th at 10:00, a group of Creoles, Cajuns, and rednecks with an affinity for the Bayou and interest in the paranormal will attempt to uncover the mysteries of the South. Investigations include Alabama’s Bear Creek Swamp, the Old Cahawba ghost town, Florida’s Manntown Cemetery and the Mont Helena Plantation in the Mississippi Delta. Monday, April 15th at 9:00 finds the two-hour series premiere of Defiance, the first-ever convergence of television and online gaming. The show takes place on a transformed Earth that has been invaded by seven different species of aliens, introducing a source of tension between the humans still remaining and the races that have assumed control of everything they hold near and dear. The show stars Grant Bowler, Julie Benz, Stephanie Leonidas, Tony Curran, Jaime Murray, Graham Greene and Mia Kirshner.
Wednesday, April 17th at 9:00 sees the spring premiere of Ghost Hunters; Red returns from maternity leave and immediately heads to Louisiana’s Shreveport Auditorium to investigate claims of paranormal activity at the famed venue where Elvis Presley played his first professional gig. Season 4.5 of Warehouse 13 debuts Monday, April 29th at 10:00, picking up from the explosive cliffhanger that concluded the first half of the season. Artie has brought the Sweating Sickness to the world, including the Warehouse team; if they don’t heal quickly enough to reverse what Artie did, the world will be enveloped in a pandemic that hasn’t been seen since the Dark Ages.
Guest stars for the second half of the season include Polly Walker as Charlotte Dupres, a historian who knows more than she lets on; Kelly Hu as Abigail Cho, a protégé of Mrs. Frederic; Jaime Murray as H.G. Wells; and Kate Mulgrew as Jane Lattimer.
William Shatner hosts Weird or What?, a new show containing three stories of the bizarre and unexplained that debuts Tuesday, April 30th at 9:00. During the episode, each story gets scientifically tested to prove the theory’s plausibility.
From the producers of Paranormal Activity, reality series Stranded will be airing its first season finale on Wednesday, April 3rd at 10:00, while the fourth season of Being Human will come to a close on Monday, April 8th. Also on Mondays, Canadian import Lost Girl‘s third season finale is set to air April 22nd at 10:00; the show has already been renewed for a fourth season, which should premiere in early 2014. The following day finds a champion being crowned in the Robot Combat League, with the final episodes of BBC import Merlin being pushed to May 3rd through May 31st.
In addition to the slate of original programming, Syfy will have two Saturday movies during the month of April. On the 6th at 9:00, Battledogs finds a werewolf disease threatening to decimate the world and a rogue general using the opportunity to create a fleet of super soldiers to seize control at an unstable time.
