Syfy is renewing its dark bio-thriller Helix. Syfy has commissioned another 13 episodes of the freshman drama series from producers Ronald D. Moore and Steven Maeda. Helix followed a Centers for Disease Control team’s efforts to contain the outbreak of a strange virus in a remote facility.
“Helix has built one of our most loyal and consistent audiences in its first season on Syfy,” said Bill McGoldrick, an original content executive at Syfy. “We look forward to growing this passionate audience in what promises to be an even more memorable second season.” Helix has averaged 2.1 million viewers and 1 million adults 18-49 including DVR playback since its premiere. As for the season two premiere date, Syfy clarified: Helix will return in early 2015.
