Leisuresonic has launched SynthTronica, a spectral synthesizer with a multi-touch filter. The app features 92 sound presets, including vocoder effects, and lets users create their own effects while offering import and export support. The filter component incorporates 11 different options. Each filter uses time-varying spectral formants — spectral peaks of the sound spectrum — and can capture new formants via an iPad’s microphone, the filter tool itself and by importing files in formats like MP3, M4A, AIFF and WAV.
Instruments include three keyboards, two piano variants and a grid keyboard, with a virtual analog synth front-end making use of reverb. It exports mixes as 24- or 16-bit AIFF or WAV files and supports copy/paste between iOS apps that can manage the files.
The iPad-only app requires iOS 3.2 or higher. It is $5 on the App Store.
