T-Mobile said that its plan to migrate MetroPCS customers away from the MetroPCS network to T-Mobile’s network is ahead of schedule.
About 3.5 million customers, or 40% of its base, have already switched. As such, it plans to shutter MetroPCS’s network in three markets by the end of the year.
Those markets include Boston, Philadelphia, and Las Vegas. T-Mobile said it expects minimal disruption to customers in those cities, though it will ramp up efforts to swap customers to T-Mobile gear over the next few months.
T-Mobile has already repurposed 25% of MetroPCS’s spectrum.
