Subscribers of T-Mobile will soon be able to roam around Europe without worrying about overusing their data, the carrier has announced. Part of its Summer Unleashed promotion, T-Mobile is providing its customers free unlimited high-speed data throughout the summer if they cross the Atlantic for their vacation, while customers of other carriers are also being given a small connectivity treat if they are on a domestic flight this weekend.
Starting from July 1 until August 31, Simple Choice subscribers will get unlimited data across the vast majority of Europe, at LTE speeds where available, at no additional cost to their plan. While roaming, text messages will also be free, while calls are 20 cents per minute, and the free data will automatically kick in without customers having to update or opt into any programs beforehand.
In what is an attempt to try and encourage other mobile users to join T-Mobile, the carrier is providing passengers of any domestic flight operating from June 24 to June 26 with Gogo in-flight internet a free hour of access to its Wi-Fi service via smartphones. “We want to show everybody what it feels like to Get Thanked and travel like a T-Mobile customer!” claims president and CEO John Legere.
The third part of the announcement relates to Belize. Starting July 1, the carrier’s Simple Global program will support the country, allowing customers to roam without worrying about data and texting charges. The new addition brings the total number of countries in South and Central America covered by the scheme to 20.
