Dystopian future? Check. A fight for survival? Check. A young woman protagonist caught in a love triangle? Must be a dystopian YA adaptation. The 5th Wave, the new film based on Rick Yancey’s popular and highly-acclaimed YA novel, which is — wait for it — the first in a trilogy.
Chloë Grace Moretz stars as Cassie with Ron Livingston and Maggie Siff play Cassie’s parents, Alex Roe and Nick Robinson are her handsome love interests, and Liev Schreiber, Maika Monroe, and Maria Bello also star.
With four waves of increasingly deadly attacks have left most of Earth decimated. Against a backdrop of fear and distrust, Cassie (Chloë Grace Moretz) is on the run, desperately trying to save her younger brother. As she prepares for the inevitable and lethal 5th wave, Cassie teams up with a young man who may become her final hope – if she can only trust him.
The 5th Wave hits theaters on January 15, 2016.
