The long-awaited sequel to 2007’s The Darkness will be with us in early October, according to 2K Games. Right below is the official trailer for the game.
2K Games announced today that The Darkness II will be launching for 360, PC and PS3 on October 4 in North America and October 7 in international territories.
Set two years after the events of the original game, players are once again cast in the role of Jackie Estacado, who is now the Don of his crime family. Since the conclusion of the first episode, Jackie has been trying to cope with troubling nightmares by bottling up his supernatural powers. An unprovoked attempt on his life not only ignites a mob war but also allows Darkness to emerge. It’s up to Jackie to understand the attack on him and find out what Darkness really wants.
The game promises “Quad-Wielding” gameplay, allowing players to attack enemies with demon arms whilst wielding a weapon in each of Jackie’s hands. The visual style is described as a “hand-painted graphic noir” technique, inspired by the series’ comic book origins.
