Packard Bell has expanded its budget range of notebooks. The EasyNote TE, promoted as a “value-proposition” for students and social network users, is powered by an AMD 1.4GHz E1-1200 processor, with a 15.6-inch 1366×768 display and Radeon HD 7310 graphics.
A 750GB hard drive provides storage, while Wi-Fi, one USB 3.0 connection and two USB 2.0 ports provide additional connectivity. An HDMI port, integrated webcam, and a memory card reader round off the hardware specifications. Hotkeys for DVD burning and other main functions are joined by buttons for Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Flickr, in a move to attract social network users.
Predominantly known in Europe, the Acer-owned brand is continuing its focus on the low-cost end of the notebook market, while the parent company aims at the higher-end market, which may explain the absence of Intel processors in the new release. The Packard Bell EasyNote TE is on sale now for around €400 ($500).
