The European Union’s highest court on Wednesday declared that Uber was a transportation business, not just a technology platform. This means they will need to follow the laws and rules that Taxi firms and drivers do in their member nations.
While the the ruling applies only to the European Union, it may give fuel to lawmakers around the world trying to deal with the economic hardships caused when people work have work as freelancers or on short-term contracts as opposed to holding permanent jobs AKA the gig economy.
