“I saw the end of the world. I could feel all this death,” says Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) at the onset of the first full trailer for “X-Men: Apocalypse.”
Such ominous words set the tone for the next installment in the film franchise. This time, the superhero mutants are faced with destruction at the hands of an all-powerful mutant called “Apocalypse,” played by Oscar Isaac. Professor X (James McAvoy), Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Quicksilver (Evan Peters) and Psylocke (Olivia Munn) are tasked with trying to avert the world’s destruction. The film is the sequel to 2014′s “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” which made more than $700 million world-wide, according to Box Office Mojo.
“X-Men: Apocalypse” is set to hit theaters on May 27, 2016, and is directed by Bryan Singer.
