Following this week’s successful release of the first trailer for Ridley Scott’s science fiction action adventure The Martian, 20th Century Fox has decided to move up the Matt Damon-starrer from a November 25 release to October 2nd. A few other films are also scheduled for the date, including London Has Fallen, Adam Jones, and The Walk, the latter of which will be competing for the same IMAX 3D screens.
With The Martian moving to October 2nd, Deadline says that 20th Century Fox has pushed back Victor Frankenstein from October 2 to November 25th. That film will now face The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 (opening five days earlier) and Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur.
Based on a best-selling novel, The Martian features a star-studded cast that also includes Jessica Chastain (Interstellar, Zero Dark Thirty), Kristen Wiig (Welcome to Me, The Skeleton Twins), Kate Mara (“House of Cards,” Fantastic Four), Michael Pena (Fury, End of Watch), Jeff Daniels (“The Newsroom,” Dumb and Dumber To), Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave, Children of Men) and Donald Glover (“Community,” Mystery Team).
Directed by Paul McGuigan (Lucky Number Slevin) and adapted by Max Landis (Chronicle), Victor Frankenstein stars James McAvoy, Daniel Radcliffe, Jessica Brown Findlay, Andrew Scott, Mark Gatiss and Freddie Fox.
