“The Saint,” the hit British television series that made a star of leading man Roger Moore, is headed back to television. Deadline reports that Eliza Dushku (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “Dollhouse“) and Adam Rayner (“Hunted,” “Hawthorne“) are attached to star in a new pilot with Moore himself co-producing.
As with the original show, which ran from 1962 to 1969, the new “The Saint” is based on the novels of Leslie Charteris and the character of Simon Templar, first introduced in 1928’s “Meet the Tiger.” Templar, a mysterious thief-turned-vigilante-hero, will be played by Rayner with Dushku taking on the part of love interest Patricia Holm (who appeared in the books but not the original show).
Simon West (The Mechanic, The Expendables 2) is attached to direct the pilot with Jesse Alexander providing the screenplay.
