A month before its debut, Netflix has ordered a second season The Witcher.
as witht he first seas, the second will run for eight episodes and is set to begin production in London early 2020 with plans for a Fall 2021 premiere on the streaming service. Schmidt Hissrich will again serve as executive producer and showrunner.
Based on Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski’s works, which spawned the hugely popular video game franchise, the story focuses on monster hunters known as Witchers who develop supernatural abilities at a young age. Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill) is a solitary Witcher who struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts.
The series also stars Freya Allan as Ciri, Chalotra as Yennefer, Jodhi May as Queen Calanthe, Mimi Ndiweni as fledgling sorceress Fringilla, Sabrina as Therica Wilson-Read, Millie Brady as outcast Princess Renfri, Adam Levy as the druid Mousesack, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson as Queen Calanthe’s husband, the knight Eist and MyAnna Buring as Tissaia, head of the magical academy.
The first season of The Witcher will premiere on December 20th on Netflix.
