Ira Glass has built a loyal fan base through his popular public-radio show “This American Life,” but earlier this year he took a step away from the airwaves to present the live “The Invisible Made Visible” stage show.
The show expands on Glass’ interest with first-person narratives and stories by that were limited by radio and adding photographs, videos and live stage acting. For people who did not see the theaterical event, Glass recently announced a partnership with VHX.tv to release a recording of the show to fans for $5 that can be streamed on their computers, tablets,and phones.
This announcement comes on the heels of other projects that have expanded Glass’ persona beyond the radio. Currently in theaters is the Mike Birbiglia-directed feature film “Sleepwalk with Me,” which Glass produced and co-wrote. The film version of Birbiglia’s one-man show and collection of essays stemmed from their inclusion in a segment on “This American Life,” and it has receieved positive reviews while selling out its opening weekend at New York’s IFC Center (most likely aided by Glass and Birbiglia’s decision to appear at every single show for the first three days).
The “Invisible Made Visible” live show will be available for purchase Nov. 15, and “Sleepwalk with Me” can currently be seen in theaters and via VOD.
